Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t the only one from his family to reach the NBA. He has two brothers with NBA experience, albeit minimally. One is Thanasis, who even played for the Bucks before, and the other is Kostas, who saw action with the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although Kostas, who played college basketball with the Dayton Flyers before being taken in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, is not signed with an NBA team, that doesn’t mean he’s not busy with basketball anymore.
He has plenty of experience in Europe, where he continues to have a career. In the 2024-25 Liga ACB season, Kostas averaged 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting an incredibly efficient 73.5 percent from the floor for Murcia. He also played before for ASVEL, Fenerbahçe and Panathinaikos.
After a season with Murcia, Kostats will be taking his talents next to Olympiacos, as the club reportedly signed him to a two-year contract.

Giannis also helped spread the word of Kostas’ new landing spot, as the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player reshared a post on Instagram showing Kostas being welcomed by Olympiacos Piraeus.
Kostas is still just 27 years old and will not turn 28 until November. Perhaps there is still a chance for him to make a return to the NBA, where Giannis continues to be a force.
The “Greek Freak” is coming off yet another fantastic season, as he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists through 67 games with the Bucks in the 2024-25 NBA campaign. He also finished third in the league MVP voting.
