The Milwaukee Bucks made one of the biggest moves of the NBA offseason by stealing Myles Turner from the rival Indiana Pacers in free agency. Turner will join Giannis Antetokounmpo in the frontcourt that is one of the strongest in the league on paper. Even outside of the Damian Lillard drama that facilitated the move, the signing was polarizing for NBA fans. Turner has now finally made a public statement about the end of his 10-year career with the Pacers.

In 2015, Myles Turner was drafted 11th overall by the Indiana Pacers. As a young center from the University of Texas, Turner was a promising prospect that was deserving of his lottery selection.

Ten years later, Turner has become the longest-tenured Pacer on a squad that came just one game short of hoisting the 2025 NBA Championship. Although Turner did not have his best performance in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, it’s impossible to ignore what he contributed to their playoff run, not to mention his increasingly impressive play over a decade-long NBA career.

Now, Turner is leaving Indiana to join the Milwaukee Bucks. He has now posted a heartfelt thank you to the team on social media.

Turner has drawn criticism from Pacers fans as well as analysts for leaving the team that he has spent his entire career with, particularly after almost lifting the Larry O’Brien Trophy in his last game for the team. Although Tyrese Haliburton is going to miss much of the season as he recovers from his Achilles injury, the team was shaping up to be very similar to last year. They figure to be one of the best teams in the east moving forward.

Nonetheless, Turner has closed the book on his Pacers journey and is now proceeding with his Milwaukee Bucks career. Bucks fans will hope that he lives up to his large contract that totals around $110 million. The other large asterisk on the move is that the team chose to release their All-Star point guard Damian Lillard in order to open up enough cap space to sign Turner.

Turner has big shoes to fill in Milwaukee. With big expectations and a lot of pressure about to be heaped onto his shoulders, Turner will need to be excellent in Bucks green in order to endear himself to the fans.
