The Milwaukee Bucks will sign veteran Bobby Portis to a three-year $44 million contract. The contract includes a player option for the 2027-28 regular season. This news was first reported by ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.

Portis is coming off a disappointing regular season. He was limited to a career-low 49 games because of a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug program. He averaged 13.9 points on 46.6% shooting from the field and 36.5% shooting from downtown. Will Portis continue being a contributor to the Milwaukee Bucks?

Milwaukee Bucks Season Outlook

Following another exit in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the Milwaukee Bucks will enter next season with low expectations. That is because star Point Guard Damian Lillard tore his Achilles early in the postseason. He is expected to miss most of the 2025-26 season, if not all.

There is also uncertainty surrounding whether the two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will remain with the team much longer. He has been the subject of trade speculation since the Bucks were knocked out of the postseason. The all-time great reportedly wants to give the team a chance but could still be traded later his summer.

Final Thoughts

Portis will bring a veteran presence to a team entering the unknown. He is one of the few players still on the roster from Milwaukee’s championship in 2021. He will look to rebound from a disappointing season and help the Milwaukee Bucks shock the basketball world.
