The Milwaukee Bucks have been the talk of the offseason. After another disappointing end to the season, the Giannis Antetokounmpo rumors have been swirling for weeks. However, the front office is determined to keep its superstar and build a championship roster. With limited resources and options, many wondered what the team could do in order to improve the team around Giannis. Milwaukee shocked the NBA world today after it was announced they would be signing former Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner to a four-year deal.

Milwaukee Bucks Sign Myles Turner

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported it is a four-year, $107 million deal for Myles Turner. There is a player option in year four and a 15% trade kicker. In order to make room for this move, the team has waived injured guard Damian Lillard, spreading out his salary over the next five years to make this happen. After losing longtime center Brook Lopez, the team needed a rim protector who could also space the floor. They got one of the best in the NBA.

Myles Turner shot 36.2% from three-point range last season while also averaging 2.0 blocks per game. He was a big reason for the Pacers’ run to the NBA Finals. Many thought he was a shoo-in to return to Indiana, but the Bucks were able to steal him away. This makes the move even better for the Milwaukee Bucks as it hurts one of their key rivals in the Eastern Conference.

Wide Open East

The Milwaukee Bucks look much better in a wide-open Eastern Conference. Both Indiana and the Boston Celtics have superstar players who will miss most of the season with Achilles injuries. The New York Knicks fired their head coach and have been turned down by many top candidates. Giannis has shown he can take over a series and be the best player on the court. Turner is an upgrade from Lopez and instantly makes this team better.

Final Thoughts

The Bucks have brought back many players from last year. They had a tough series against the Pacers that changed when Lillard tore his Achilles. Now, they bring back many players while upgrading in key places. Can the Bucks make another run to the Finals next season?
