Many eyes were on the Summer League matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday for a clear reason — it showcased both Cooper Flagg and Bronny James. However, the Milwaukee Bucks‘ meeting with the Denver Nuggets over at the Cox Pavilion was arguably the best game of the night, just based on how it ended.
With just seconds left in regulation and the Bucks down by two points, former San Francisco Dons star Jamaree Bouyea took it upon himself to deliver the goods for Milwaukee. Bouyea went for the game-winner, as he made a move to free himself from the Nuggets’ defense before pulling up for a three-point attempt. His bold decision paid off, as he sank the buzzer-beating triple to give the Bucks the 90-89 victory.
After the game, Bouyea revealed that Summer League coach Jason Love just told him to “go for the win,” which was exactly what he did.
Even though it was just for a Summer League game that has zero impact on the Bucks’ upcoming season, Bouyea said that the moment was a “dream come true.”

Bouyea later elaborated on what led to his heroic shot.
“It was suppposed to be a ghost screen,” Bouyea shared (h/t Eric Nehm of The Athletic). “I kind of came off it and tried to get downhill. Got bumped off my line a little bit. Looked up at the clock and took the step back. Went for the pump fake and he jumped. And thank God he jumped because I got it off and it went in.”
The Bucks will look to go 2-0 in the Summer League when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. They also have games against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Chicago Bulls lined up on Sunday and next Wednesday, respectively.
