Ex-Milwaukee Bucks shot-caller Mike Budenholzer has been making moves. The one-time NBA champion tactician is wasting no time building his coaching staff with the Phoenix Suns, which apparently, will now include the head coach of the Bucks’ NBA G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd.

According to reports, Chaisson Allen will now be vacating his post as the Her’s head honcho to join Budenholzer’s staff in Phoenix.

Milwaukee Bucks News: Mike Budenholzer Poaches Wisconsin Head Coach

NBA insider Michael Scotto reported the news on Sunday:

“The Suns are adding Chaisson Allen as an assistant coach to Mike Budenholzer’s staff, league sources told @hoopshype. Allen was previously the head coach of the Wisconsin Herd, the G League affiliate for the Bucks,” Scotto wrote.

Allen, a former NCAA star for Northeastern University, played abroad professionally after failing to get into the NBA. This will be his first step into the NBA as a coach after having had stints as an assistant in the G League with the Capital City Go-Go, the Herd, and the Long Island Nets.

Allen has been the head coach of Wisconsin since 2021.

It’s not surprising that Budenholzer has been recruiting through his previous working relationships during his time with the Bucks. After all, he will obviously want to work with people he already knows and trusts. As such, it would not be surprising if he makes even more hires from his coaching tree during his memorable Bucks tenure.
