Despite making back-to-back Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves are struggling this season.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are led by the amazing Anthony Edwards, who has only improved his game in the offseason.
At first glance, the Timberwolves’ 10-6 record looks like a decent start to the season, especially in the Western Conference.
However, a closer look at their wins and losses tells an entirely different story.
Right now, the Timberwolves hold the seventh seed in the conference as they are four games above the .500 mark.
However, head coach Chris Finch’s side has one glaring problem – the inability to win against teams with a winning record.
| Opponent Type | Wins | Losses | Record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winning Teams | 0 | 6 | 0-6 |
| Losing Teams | 10 | 0 | 10-0 |
The defeats include two losses against the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. Additionally, the T-Wolves have suffered defeats vs. the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns as well.
Although the season is still young, the Timberwolves need to find a solution sooner rather than later. Otherwise, an early playoff exit could be waiting for the franchise in the future.
The Timberwolves had a shot at snapping their losing streak against teams better than the .500 mark during their recent NBA Cup matchup against the Suns.
In fact, the Timberwolves had an eight-point lead over the Suns with just 50 seconds left to be played in regulation time.
What should have been an easy win turned into one of the worst defeats of the season for the Timberwolves as they went scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Suns, on the other hand, walked away with a 114-113 win despite superstar Devin Booker already being fouled out.
