On Monday, Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves had a 117-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors to hold a 3-1 lead in the series. On Wednesday, the Wolves have the chance to end the series at home and end the Western Conference finals. If they do that, they’ll have their second consecutive appearance (third overall) in the conference finals.
Minnesota’s star had a great outing to lead the team to a win. He had 30 points on 54.5 percent shooting from deep. Throughout the postseason, Edwards has played excellently to lead his team back to the conference finals.
After the game, Edwards received a special gift from former NBA star Gary Payton. The former nine-time All-Star gave Ant-Man his throwback Seattle Supersonics jersey. The shooting guard was admiring it after the game as he made his way to the locker room.
“Got that Supersonics s**t,” Edwards said.
“Gary Payton, legend.”

Payton’s son, Gary Payton II, plays for the Warriors. Even though his son is playing for a different team, he still showed some love to Edwards, who’s one of the biggest talents in the league.
Payton was a star in the NBA during his time. He led the Sonics to multiple playoff appearances, solidifying his name as a playmaking savant and dominated the defensive end. The Hall of Fame guard is among the shortlist of backcourt players who have won the Defensive Player of the Year. Seattle’s former franchise star won the award in 1996.
One of the areas of the game where Anthony Edwards improved was his outside shooting. This season, he’s attempted the most amount of shots from deep and has been efficient. The former Georgia star attempted 10.3 threes per game and made 39.5 percent.
In the postseason, he’s kept it up as he shot 8.9 attempts from deep. However, his efficiency has gone down since the start of the playoffs and he has only made 33.8 percent.
After their win, Edwards took the time to give credit to Stephen Curry for his help in improving his outside stroke.
“It’s the same every night. Let it fly. I told Steph I was working with him all summer. Big shoutout, big credit to him. He influenced me to be able to shoot the ball really well so I went back in the summer and started working on it once I left him and I got better at it. So just let it fly,” Edwards said.
