The Minnesota Timberwolves had another phenomenal run during the 2024-25 NBA season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves saved their best for the NBA Playoffs as they eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors in back-to-back rounds.

However, once again, the Anthony Edwards-led team was unable to cross the final hurdle in the West – the conference finals.

With the Timberwolves suffering WCF exits in two consecutive years, it will be interesting to see if the front office makes any major changes to the roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Biggest additions to the Minnesota Timberwolves’ roster

By sending Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks last season, it’s obvious the Timberwolves see a future where Edwards is the team’s cornerstone superstar.

At just 24 years old, Edwards has already surpassed Kevin Garnett’s postseason legacy as a T-Wolves player. Keeping that in mind, it’s obvious that the franchise wants to keep the current core together for as long as possible.

The key to making that a reality was re-signing Julius Randle to a long-term deal, and the organization accomplished that, among other things, during the offseason.

Randle averaged 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game for the Timberwolves last season as he became an integral part of head coach Chris Finch’s lineup.

Bringing back Naz Reid was a cherry on top for the Timberwolves, as the veteran center has consistently improved throughout his career with the team.

Biggest departures from the Minnesota Timberwolves’ roster

While the Timberwolves have found consistency in the postseason, it also meant they were pushed to the second apron. Thus, the team incurred a massive luxury tax during the 2024-25 NBA season.

To avoid a similar fate during the 2025-26 NBA season, the Timberwolves have parted ways with several players.

The most notable departure is of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, as the 27-year-old signed with the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent.

Despite those exits, the Timberwolves’ 2025-26 starting lineup looks solid as the franchise managed to retain its starters this summer.
