The Minnesota Timberwolves have a young and talented roster shaping up for next season.
Losing guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker was not ideal for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the team brought back Julius Randle and Naz Reid in free agency.
After losing in the Western Conference Finals to the OKC Thunder, it was clear the T-Wolves needed to do something with their roster.
They tried to get involved in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, but he eventually decided to move to the Houston Rockets.
While this caused disappointment among fans, the NBA Summer League has taken some of that away as the Timberwolves Summer League campaign has showcased the talent of the young players on their roster.
The team’s GM spoke about one of the players on the roster who impressed him the most during ESPN’s broadcast.
Terrence Shannon Jr. made himself known in the limited minutes he received for the T-Wolves last season.
As a rookie, he only averaged 10.6 minutes and scored 4.3 points on 48.2% from the field.
He had some brilliant performances, including a 25-point performance against the LA Lakers in the regular season.
Shannon Jr. has shown up for the T-Wolves in the Summer League with two 20-point performances.
His exploits in the Summer League have led the T-Wolves GM to heap praise on him.
General Manager Matt Lloyd said: “Little story about TJ, every game last year he was always the last guy off the floor making sure everyone got a high five for coming off the floor.
“We had some changes on the team in the backcourt, Nickeil went to Atlanta. We are so happy for him, he was such a huge part of our team for the last two and a half seasons.
“Watching TJ in practice and watching how hard he worked and how he never wavered from that work and never wavered from trying to contribute in a positive way.
“He is a well-rounded basketball player and he’s gonna be an elite two-way player at the apex of his development we’re really really excited about TJ.”

Shannon Jr. and Rob Dillingham are two players on whom there will be a lot of expectations in their sophomore year.
Dillingham has also been putting up great numbers in the Summer League, while also playing a leadership role on the roster.

He has earned a lot of praise from experts and his teammates despite a limited role in his rookie season.
However, with Alexander-Walker gone, both Dillingham and Shannon Jr. will be key to the Timberwolves’ rotation.
Both are talented players with two-way abilities and will play a major role if the Timberwolves are to compete for a championship.
