Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Get Major Backlash Over Shooting Claim Amid 3-0 Series Deficit
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

One major reason the Minnesota Timberwolves remain winless in their best-of-seven series in the 2024 Western Conference finals against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks is the shooting woes of Karl-Anthony Towns.

Expected to help Anthony Edwards carry the load on offense in the Mavs series, Towns has yet to put up a decent and efficient scoring performance in the matchup. In Game 3, Towns shot just 5/18 from the field and even missed all his eight attempts from the 3-point region, finishing with just 14 points to go with 11 rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of a 116-107 loss on the road.

Towns can’t believe he was not shooting well against the Mavericks, even revealing that he’s putting over 1,000 shots per day with the hopes of keeping his aim sharp. That’s just not what is happeing in the series, though.

“I’ve got to laugh. I’m putting up to 1500 shots a day. Shot so well all playoffs, confidence extremely high. To be having these unfortunate bounces and these looks that are just not going in, it’s tough. It’s tough, for sure,” Towns said via Dave McMenamin of ESPN after Game 3.

Social Media Reacts to Minnesota Timberwolves Star’s Postgame Comment About Shooting Woes

“Yeah unfortunate bounces. Bro thinks blowing layups is on ‘bounces.”

“My man is shooting 62 shots an hour. Does not sleep.”

“Maybe stop putting up shots and practice setting screens and getting to the rim.”

““I’ve got to laugh” bro u down 3-0 you bouta be in Cancun”

“1500 shots a day? Surprised the backboard can handle that many bricks being thrown at it ”

“Unfortunate bounces? Half of those 3s were straight bricks.”

“1500 a day- come on bro. Unfortunate bounces, lol. The shots aren’t even close. Dude got Copperfield’d”

“If I made as much money as he does to suck this hard at my job when it mattered most I’d be laughing too. Like f*****g hard, I’d be laughing.”

So far in the conference finals round, Towns is averaging 15.0 points on 27.8 FG% and 13.6 percent shooting from deep.
