Minnesota Timberwolves: Los Angeles Lakers Legend Convinced Anthony Edwards Is Michael Jordan 2.0
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Edwards is turning heads these days after he dominated Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs . For Los Angeles Lakers legend Metta World Peace, though, the Minnesota Timberwolves star is the second coming of Michael Jordan.

During the first round series against the Suns, Edwards put on a phenomenal show that impressed everyone. With an average of 39.4 minutes per game, the Timberwolves All-Star shooting guard posted 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per contest. He also shot 51 percent from the field, 43 percent from beyond the arc, and 83 percent from the free-throw line.

As a result of his dominant showing against Phoenix, the Timberwolves advanced to the next round to face Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Before Game 1, many took the defending champions’ side as they were seen as the superior team. But during the game itself, Edwards notched 43 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. His performance helped Minnesota get the 106-99 win over the Nuggets.

The win helped Edwards and company take the momentum from Denver. At the same time, it also turned heads and made everyone see the All-Star guard’s game and how impressive it is on the court. Meanwhile, the Nuggets will have to win one on the road to ensure they advance to the Western Conference Finals.

Metta World Peace Claims Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards is the Second Coming of Michael Jordan

After Game 1, various personalities gave their take on Edwards’ performance and how impressive he was against the Nuggets. Among those who gave their take is Los Angeles Lakers legend Metta World Peace, in a video he shared on his official X account:

Much like Kevin Garnett, World Peace has been converted to a believer after seeing how great Edwards was against his opponents. Add his flair, leadership, and intensity, and there’s a lot of reason to see His Airness in every second the Timberwolves star is on the court.

Minnesota needs three more games to take care of the Nuggets in their series. Whether they can sweep them or not, expect Edwards to be the best player in most of those games against Denver. If he does, his case to be the next face of the league will surely get stronger and come closer to the level of Jordan during his time in the NBA.
