Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert took a lot of flack in their second-round series against the Denver Nuggets. Despite the fact that it was the Wolves who ultimately reigned supreme, Gobert was heavily criticized for being manhandled by league MVP Nikola Jokic throughout the series.
Unfortunately for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, he hasn’t fared much better in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks — at least according to Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green.
Green shared his thoughts on Dallas’ Game 1 victory on Wednesday night as Luka Doncic and Co. stole home-court advantage from the Timberwolves. According to the outspoken Warriors veteran, Gobert was one of the reasons behind Minnesota’s downfall. So much so, that Green believes the solution would be for the Wolves to bench Gobert in favor of Kyle Anderson:

Green isn’t trying to clown Gobert here. In fact, the four-time NBA champion fully appreciates what Gobert brings to the table for Minnesota.
However, Green’s main argument stems from how Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving both had their way against the Timberwolves in Game 1. Dallas’ elite backcourt combined for 63 points in the series opener as Minnesota struggled to contain the two Mavs superstars.
Tough as it might be, Green believes that the response from the Wolves for Game 2 will need to involve Gobert coming off the bench.
