The Minnesota Timberwolves faced the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 with their season hanging in the balance. They trail 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals. Minnesota looked horrible during the first quarter of a critical Game 5.
Their offense was especially bad. They shot 3-of-20 from the field and 1-of-9 from three. They also committed four turnovers. Tonight’s quarter set a season-low for points in a quarter for the Wolves. Their previous low was 11. OKC led 26-9 after 12 minutes of play. Will the Minnesota Timberwolves show signs of life as the game wears on?
Obviously Minnesota’s offense needs to wake up. They were shockingly bad in the opening quarter. That comes as a surprise because they scored 143 and 126 points in Games 3 and 4 respectively. It all begins will All-NBA Guard Anthony Edwards. He was passive in Game 4 and had 5 points at the time of publication. Minnesota also needs Forward Julius Randle to wake up. He has looked lost at times during the Western Conference Finals.
The way the Minnesota Timberwolves have played tonight means their season will be over in a few hours. Big comebacks have been a staple of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. The Timberwolves will need one tonight to keep their season going.
