It has been an interesting offseason thus far for the Sacramento Kings as they have elected to keep their core together and chase a playoff spot in the loaded Western Conference next season.
Of course, many around the NBA expected the Kings to begin a rebuild this offseason after trading De’Aaron Fox at last season’s trade deadline or at least move on from one of their stars in Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine or DeMar DeRozan.
Instead, the Kings have kept their core together and have also made some notable additions to their roster to help them compete for a playoff spot next season.
Sacramento began the offseason by selecting Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 draft and they then landed Dennis Schroder in free agency via a sign-and-trade with the Detroit Pistons to fill their void at the point guard position.
It has also been reported that the Kings are showing interest in both Jonathan Kuminga and Russell Westbrook as they try to upgrade their roster even more before the start of next season.
While the Kings are showing interest in both of those players, Sports Illustrated’s Rohan Raman recently released a mock trade that would land Sacramento Jonathan Isaac from the Orlando Magic in a three-team trade involving the Atlanta Hawks.
In the trade, Raman has the Kings sending Keegan Murray, Dario Saric and Isaac Jones to the Magic in exchange for Isaac, Jett Howard and first-round picks in 2027 and 2031.
Sacramento would also send Terence Davis to the Hawks in the mock trade for a 2031 second-round pick.
This is an interesting trade for every team involved and one that is highly unlikely to happen for the Kings as they have shown no interest in moving on from Murray.
Despite this, the Kings would be adding a great defender in Isaac, though he has struggled with injuries during his career, a young forward in Howard and multiple first-round picks that could be beneficial to them if they end up starting a rebuild in the coming years.
Despite this, it would likely take a larger trade package for the Kings to consider moving on from Murray as they have already made it known that they are not looking to trade him this summer.
