It has been an offseason full of change for the Phoenix Suns as they have completely overhauled their roster after missing the playoffs last season.
Phoenix began their offseason by trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for a package headlined by Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and the draft pick they used to select Khaman Maluach.
They then acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets to upgrade their frontcourt and also selected Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea along with Maluach in the 2025 draft.
The Suns then bought out Bradley Beal’s contract, leaving Devin Booker as the only part of their big three remaining.
With these moves, the Suns have completely changed up their roster and more moves could be coming with Phoenix still having multiple players in trade rumors.
With this in mind, Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley recently released a mock trade that has the Suns sending Green to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for a former lottery pick by the New York Knicks.
In the trade, the Suns would send Green to the Raptors in exchange for RJ Barrett and Ochai Agbaji.
For the Suns, this would be an interesting trade for them to make with Green having yet to suit up for their team, though his fit alongside Booker in the backcourt has been questioned by many around the NBA.
Because of this, Phoenix could elect to move Green before the start of the regular season, though it is highly unlikely.
Despite this, swapping him for Barrett and Agbaji could work out well for the Suns as Barrett would give them another solid wing scorer in their starting lineup while Agbaji would be a key piece in their second unit.
For Barrett, he has been in trade rumors ever since he was traded from the Knicks to the Raptors in 2023 and he could be a much better fit next to Booker in the backcourt than Green for the Suns.
Last season, the 25-year-old averaged 21.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 46.8% from the field and 35.0% from three.
While Barrett is known for his scoring, he is also a great rebounder and playmaker that the Suns could desperately use in their starting lineup.
For Agbaji he would give the Suns an offensive spark off the bench after he averaged a career-high 10.4 points per game last season.
While this trade could work out well for the Suns, it is highly unlikely that they will look to move Green this season unless his fit next to Booker begins to cause problems.
