Cleveland Cavaliers guard James Harden will either be on the court or in court this NBA offseason.
Harris County records stated that Harden was arrested in Houston at 3:41 a.m. Saturday for unlawful carrying of a weapon. He was released a little over an hour later after receiving a misdemeanor charge.
According to TMZ, the All-Star guard had to pay a $100 bond before being released.
“His bond terms ban him from possessing any firearms, ammunition, or other weapons, and from using, possessing, or consuming any alcohol, controlled substance, dangerous drug, or marijuana unless prescribed by a doc,” TMZ reported. “And, he must submit to random urinalysis.”
Harden's arraignment is currently scheduled for June 22.
Harden's representatives haven't commented on his arrest. That being said, TMZ released his mug shot this Monday.
Though it's not really a huge surprise, some NBA fans already said they'll be using his mug shot as a meme next season.
"Yeah this is going triple platinum next season," one fan said.
"Looking like Brunson just cooked him again," a second fan commented.
"He looks like one of his playoff performances," another fan wrote.
The Cavaliers released a statement shortly after Harden's arrest was made public. They said they're monitoring the situation at this time.
"The Cleveland Cavaliers are aware of the arrest of James Harden this morning and are in the process of gathering additional information," the team said in a statement. "We are in contact with James and his representation and will continue to monitor developments as they become available. At this time, we will have no further comment."
Harden has until June 29 to exercise his $42 million player option for next season. It's unclear if this situation will impact his decision.
Prior to Harden's arrest, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst said the former MVP wants to stay with the Cavaliers.
