Myles Turner faced the Indiana Pacers for the first time in his NBA career on Monday night, and many people were surprised by the reception that the veteran received. Turner certainly did not seem thrilled about it.
Turner signed a four-year, $107M contract with the Milwaukee Bucks this past summer after spending the first 10 years of his career in Indiana. The Pacers played a video tribute to him prior to Monday night's game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The tribute was an opportunity for Pacers fans to show Turner that they appreciated a player who spent a decade with the franchise. That is not what happened, however.
Turner was booed loudly prior to tip-off of Milwaukee's 117-115 win. He smirked and gave a sarcastic wave.

Turner was also booed every time he touched the ball. When asked after the game about the reception, he had a blunt message for Pacers fans.
"It's disheartening, man. It was frustrating," Turner said. "You give 10 years of your life, your blood, your sweat, your tears. You take pay cuts. You survive trade rumors. You try to do everything the right way, and sometimes that's not how stuff shakes out. It's cool. I'll take it on the chin.
"I think a lot of people will say I said things, but I think a lot of people want to formulate their own narratives and spin it to whatever they want it to be. It is what it is, man. Like I said, you take it on the chin and you just move on."

Turner was a fan favorite during his 10-year run with the Pacers. He is an outstanding defender who led the NBA in blocks twice in that span. Turner also helped lead Indiana on an unexpected run to the NBA Finals last season.
After shootaround on Monday, Turner said he was surprised that the Pacers did not make him a contract offer that was similar to the deal he signed with Milwaukee. It is possible that fans didn't appreciate those comments.
Turner finished with nine points, five rebounds and seven blocks in the win over his former team. The boos must have made the result a lot more satisfying.
