Myles Turner Sends Message to Doubters Following Second Round Victory

The Indiana Pacers finished off the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 114-105 victory in Game 5 on Tuesday, taking their second round series 4-1 to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for a second straight season.

Pacers center Myles Turner made a sizable contribution throughout the series for Indiana and Game 5 was no different as he put up 10 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks. With a six-point lead in the final minute, the former Texas Longhorns star buried a clutch three to turn the lights out in Cleveland and send his squad to the next round.

The shot was not just a dagger to the Cavs, but a dagger to the number of ESPN analysts who picked against the Pacers prior to the series and Turner took to X immediately afterwards to send a message.

Only two analysts even had Indiana pushing the series to a Game 7 and Turner clearly took that personally. Between this and Tyrese Haliburton elevating his game after being labeled overrated by his peers, the Pacers have ridden a train of spite all the way to the doorstep of the NBA Finals.

Like he did in round one against Milwaukee, Turner played a vital role for Indiana throughout round two. The Euless, TX, native averaged 16.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks throughout the five-game series and will be expected to produce similar numbers in the next round.

Turner and the Pacers will now await either the New York Knicks or Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. Considering the Knicks' 3-1 lead and Jayson Tatum's devastating Achilles tear for the Celtics, it's looking like we'll get the renewal of a classic 90's rivalry between the Pacers and Knicks.
