The Minnesota Timberwolves are glad to have Naz Reid back on a five-year contract worth $125 million. It is a valid deal to give to the team's longest-tenured player, who is also a Sixth Man of the Year winner in 2024.
Everyone within the Timberwolves organization loves having Reid on the roster, so his return was welcomed. Apart from the Timberwolves, Reid also made an impact with his deal around the league.
Since Reid's contract is significant, some people around the NBA community were surprised. The Timberwolves fans were not at all surprised, considering they even thought they got him back on a cheaper deal than expected.
It is a standard contract for big-time contributors these days, and Reid has always remained one of the Timberwolves' best players. He will continue playing a significant role for coach Chris Finch, and the rest of the league has taken notice.
The NBA has had many seismic roster moves in the 2025 offseason, including Kevin Durant's move to the Houston Rockets and the Milwaukee Bucks waiving superstar guard Damian Lillard.
Myles Turner benefited from the Bucks waiving Lillard, as that made room for him to sign with them on a four-year contract worth $107 million.
Initially, Turner wanted to stay with the Indiana Pacers, the team he has called home since 2015. He was the team's longest-tenured player, who also dealt with constant trade rumors almost every season he was there.

After nearly winning the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Pacers were unwilling to give him a contract that was similar to what Reid got from Minnesota.
That was the deal-breaker for Turner, which led to him looking for opportunities elsewhere. Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly played a big role in recruiting him, as he had a similar profile to Brook Lopez, who left the Bucks.
Now that Reid is committed to a long-term deal with the Timberwolves, he will want to keep living up to that potential. He will serve as the team's sixth man, but he can start from time to time either as the center or the power forward.
Reid is one of the Timberwolves' most important players, and he will continue to shine as a three-point shooter and an underrated passer.

Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels are the team's building blocks, who are the players who have a similar history with the Timberwolves organization. Reid joined the team one year ahead of them, but they have grown together.
This team will continue to grow, and Reid will be a big part of that, as he will keep shining with his three-point shooting, overall impact, and maintain his cult hero status within the fan base.
