Online support ends this year, with only offline play modes remaining
If you’ve been balling out online on NBA 2K24, it’s almost time to hang up your virtual sneakers. 2K confirmed that servers for the game will be discontinued on December 31, 2025, meaning players only have a few months left to enjoy multiplayer, MyTEAM, and MyCAREER before they vanish for good. The title will also be removed from digital storefronts on October 30, 2025, limiting new purchases to physical copies.
Once the servers are gone, core online features will no longer function. This includes competitive multiplayer, Virtual Currency (VC) earning, and any connected community activities. Modes like MyTEAM and MyCAREER, both heavily dependent on online services, will become unplayable.
For players who stick with the game, the good news is that offline content — including Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA — will remain available.

This shutdown is not new for fans of the franchise. Past titles like NBA 2K23 and NBA 2K22 saw similar sunsets roughly two years after release, a timeline consistent with 2K’s online support cycle. Players who invested in special editions, such as the Black Mamba Edition honoring Kobe Bryant, will still be able to revisit the game’s offline modes, though the premium online perks tied to that edition will no longer carry weight after the shutdown.
The transition also puts a spotlight on the shift to NBA 2K26, where fans will look for expanded features, more balanced MyTEAM packs, and refined gameplay updates. With NBA 2K24 winding down, the focus naturally turns to how 2K will handle community expectations moving forward.
