As the NBA offseason now heads towards the end of August, many teams already have their rosters in place for next season as they now begin to prepare for training camp.
Among those teams is the Oklahoma City Thunder who made minimal moves this offseason after capping off their dominant season last year with a championship.
Of course, the Thunder did add Thomas Sorber and Brooks Barnhizer in the 2025 draft and they also locked in their star trio of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren for the foreseeable future after signing all three to max contract extensions this offseason.
Oklahoma City is set to enter the 2025-26 season as the favorite to win the championship thanks to their star trio and abundance of roster depth.
On Thursday, Shai was in the news as 2K released their top 10 players in their upcoming release of NBA 2K26.

Of course, Shai is on the cover of 2K’s new game and they also revealed that he is a 98 overall, which has him tied as the highest rated player in the game with Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

Giannis Antetokounmpo: 97

LeBron James: 94
Steph Curry: 94

This is an incredible honor for Shai who has become one of the top players in the NBA, especially after beating out Jokic for the MVP award last season.
Last season, the 27-year-old guard averaged 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 51.9% from the field and 37.5% from three.
With these numbers, Shai was named regular season MVP, made the All-Star team and was also named to the All-NBA First Team.
Shai also had a dominant run in the playoffs that saw him win the Western Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP as he capped off his historic season by leading the Thunder to their first championship since relocating to Oklahoma City.
It is no surprise that the Thunder’s star guard is tied at the top of the rankings for NBA 2K26 and he will look to improve by one rating and reach the incredible 99 overall ranking at some point during next season.
NBA 2K26 officially released on September 5 while early access for pre-orders begins on August 29.
