The Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned in many rumors this offseason after a tumultuous 2021/22 NBA season. The Purple and Gold struggled to find their best moment with Russell Westbrook on the roster, even failing to make it to the play-in tournament.

They have been linked with Kyrie Irving in recent times, but so far, that move isn't complete, as the Brooklyn Nets are focused on moving Kevin Durant before making a final decision on Kyrie. Still, Lakers Nation seems to be really excited about the potential arrival of Irving.

Well, not everybody is sold on this option, and one NBA analyst recently claimed that the Lakers should try to get depth instead of a star like Kyrie. More specifically, Kevin O'Connor favored a move for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers than Kyrie Irving (4:07):

"If I'm LeBron, I'm not totally sure I want Kyrie. I might rather have Buddy Hield and Myles Turner and whatever other additional flexibility you get from those guys in a deal."

This has been discussed before, with more people favoring a move that would bring Kyrie Irving and would ship Russell Westbrook to a different team. Whether it is the Brooklyn Nets, San Antonio Spurs, or any other franchise, the Lakers fanbase wants Westbrook gone.

Well, if they end up using Russ in a trade, O'Connor believes it would be better to get more than one player in return for the controversial point guard. Kyrie could definitely help the Lakers reach the next level, but they've proved they can win with just LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and a solid supporting cast.

It remains to be seen if the team takes this route or if they go all-in for Kyrie Irving this offseason.
