Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves asserted themselves with a big win over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series. Edwards helped take the Laker crowd out of the game with 22 points, including four three-pointers in the 117-95 win.

The Timberwolves kept the road fans out of the game for the most part, but Edwards will head into Game 2 with a significant fine after an interaction with a fan in Game 1.

A fan was heckling Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert, and Edwards began to stand up on his teammate's behalf. Edwards taunted the fan by mentioning the value of Gobert's contract - more than $200 million.

When this wasn't enough to make the fan go away, Edwards resorted to a personal attack.

"My [expletive] bigger than yours!," Edwards shouted at the fan, while reaching between his legs to make a suggestive gesture.

In response to the gesture and comment, the NBA has fined Edwards $50,000. It's not the first fine for Edwards this season. He was hit with a $35,000 fine in March after taking too long to leave the court following an ejection.

He's also been fined for profanity during a live game broadcast, and for other obscene gestures. In total, Edwards has been fined over $300,000 by the NBA this season alone. Edwards was also suspended for one game during the regular season for reaching the league's 16 technical foul threshold.

The Timberwolves will need Edwards on the floor for Tuesday's Game 2 if they want to take a commanding lead in the series. The Lakers will look to even the series at one win apiece before it heads to Minnesota.

Lakers star Luka Doncic led the way for Los Angeles in Game 1 with 37 points, while LeBron James added 19. Jaden McDaniels was the leading scorer for Minnesota, putting up 25 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the victory.

We'll see what Game 2 has in store on Tuesday night, as the Timberwolves look to silence the crowd at Crypto.com Arena yet again. Fans can tune into the Western conference playoffs at 10 PM ET on TNT.
