The New York Knicks defeated the Atlanta Hawks during their showdown at State Farm Arena on Monday, 108-105. Jalen Brunson led the way for the Knicks, recording 30 points, three rebounds, 13 assists and two steals.

Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting, along with 12 rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block. OG Anunoby was the Knicks' second-best scorer with 22 points.

Nickeil-Alexander Walker exploded for 36 points for Atlanta, while Jalen Johnson chipped in 21 points. The Hawks had the chance to force overtime, but CJ McCollum's game-tying bank shot from half court was waived off because he did not release the ball in time.

The Knicks, however, may have benefited from an officiating error during the game. The NBA's Last Two Minute Report revealed one incorrect non-call: a traveling violation on Brunson with around 1:16 remaining on the clock.

Before attacking the basket for a tough layup, Brunson gathered the ball and made his right foot his pivot foot. However, he then moved toward the basket and shuffled his feet, which constitutes a travel.

"Brunson (NYK) establishes his right foot as his pivot foot, which he moves after his gather," the NBA L2M Report explained.

For what it's worth, Brunson missed his shot and the scores stayed at 102-102. The Hawks were also able to get the rebound, so it didn't have much of an impact on the game.

Still, in a showdown separated by just one possession and considering the fact that the Hawks could have forced overtime, it's certainly worth wondering what could have happened had Brunson's violation been called.
