The Sacramento Kings snapped a three-game losing streak on Sunday night, and it was thanks in large part to another strong performance from Russell Westbrook. The former NBA MVP went off against the Chicago Bulls with 23 points on 7-of-17 shooting, 11 rebounds, 12 assists, a steal and three triples in 35 minutes of action.
The Kings secured a 126-110 home win at Golden 1 Center, improving to 15-50. Sacramento is still in possession of the worst record in the NBA, but it’s always good to see the Kings get a win every now and again — especially when Westbrook puts on a show.
Westbrook has been a bright spot for Sacramento this season. Heading into Sunday’s matchup, the 37-year-old averaged 15.3 points on 43.0% shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 28.9 minutes per contest. He’s also knocking down 2.0 triples per game on a 33.7% clip.
This is Westbrook’s first season with the Kings. He signed with the team in the offseason on a one-year deal. Currently in his 18th season in the NBA, the Kings are Westbrook’s seventh team in what has been an iconic career.
Westbrook marked another milestone on Sunday. His latest triple-double drew an announcement from the NBA.

Despite this being Westbrook’s first season with the Kings, he’s already joined a franchise icon in the history books. Webber is widely considered one of the greatest players to ever don a Kings jersey. He now has to share one of his franchise records with Westbrook.
Westbrook and the Kings are back in action on Tuesday. They face the Indiana Pacers at home, followed by another home matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.
