Minnesota Timberwolves

Anthony Edwards put up 51 points on Tuesday night. And after going down big to the Wizards early, the Wolves needed every bit of it.

The Timberwolves will now travel to Denver for the second leg of this back-to-back set and face Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

This game has major implications for playoff seeding. Both teams need a win to secure the top spot, so I expect every player on the Wolves side to get a full allotment of minutes, be active on the back-to-back and fight through the Denver altitude.

Minnesota will rely on Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid to slow Jokic down while hoping Edwards can put on another offensive masterpiece.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets' injury report has been crowded recently, with a lot of players frequently showing up as questionable or probable. Considering the implications for this game on the Western Conference standings, I expect the Nuggets to have nearly everyone except Aaron Gordon, who's likely out with a foot injury.

Denver should be playing with a sense of urgency because it doesn't own the tiebreaker against Minnesota, and thus, needs to win the top seed with a better record.

My hope is the Nuggets don't rest Jamal Murray on the second leg of a back-to-back set. If they do, this number drops. I would wait for early shootaround reports before backing Denver, which is the side I ultimately want.

Murray played very well against Utah and didn't appear to deal with any setbacks.

Betting Pick & Prediction

This line is set at a consensus 5.5 by the market, as of writing, and considering the schedule spot, I would say Murray is the key player who may pop up on an injury report sometime on Wednesday.

Murray returned recently after some time out with an injury, and it's yet to be seen if he'll play in the back-to-back set.

If Murray is present at shootaround, I like backing the home team here. Six and seven are two of the most frequent outcomes in the NBA, and I think this number moves to 6.5 if Murray is confirmed as active.

If he's available at shootaround, expect him to play. Get ready to grab the 5.5 that's available at BetMGM because getting CLV ahead of key numbers holds strong market value.

Pick: Nuggets -5.5
