NBA best bets: Wiesguy's 2 Picks and a Prop for 1/13

We needed some overtime magic last night from the Mavericks, but we registered another perfect day at the office, 3-0. Hopefully, you followed along. The NFL is still rolling, but there is lots of value on the hardwood right now.

Friday night always feels a little sleepy for sports betting, but the NBA has a pretty full slate this evening. Not many marquee games though the Nuggets against the Clippers should be entertaining.

Let's see if we can push the winning streak a little further.

Picks and Prop Records

NBA Sides:  9-5

NBA Props: 3-4

Winning Days: 5 (of 7)

NBA Picks for Thursday, January 12

Cleveland Cavaliers -3 (win)
The Cavs got the win and the cover but it was tighter than expected. "Dame" went for 50 but it just wasn't enough.

Dallas Mavericks -3.5 (win)
Luka pushed the game to OT, and then there was another. In the end, we got the cover but we shouldn't have needed the drama. Dallas was up big early.

Spencer Dinwiddie Over 15.5 Points (win)
Given we got 2OT I would have thought Dinwiddie might net more than 17 points. A win is a win though.

NBA Picks for Friday, January 13

New York Knicks -4 (at Washington Wizards)

New York has RJ Barrett back, while Washington is without Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis for this matchup on Friday. New York has been better on the road than I realized at 12-8 SU and 14-6 ATS so far this season. The Knicks have enough firepower to build a lead and close it out on the road against a Washington team that is struggling and limited right now. There is a reason they are home underdogs. Kyle Kuzma is having a nice season for the Wizards, but he is not enough.

Orlando Magic +6 (at Utah Jazz)

Utah has more wins on the season, but I would rate these teams about even and the game being in Utah is not enough to justify the spread. Orlando is 2-1 SUATS on their current Western Conference road trip, all as underdogs too. They are not totally healthy but things appear to be progressing. In Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner the Magic have 2 20+ppg scorers, giving them a little more punch than people realize. This game should finish within a basket either way and the Magic just might get the win too.

NBA Prop

Jabari Smith Over 19.5 Points, Rebounds, and Assists

Playing Sacramento is always a great spot to improve your counting stats. The Rockets and Kings just met and Smith fell short of this number in a 20 points loss by Houston. He only took eight shots though and I expect he and the team will be making a more concerted effort to get him more opportunities (Jalen Green was 9 for 25 ... ugh). This is right about at seasonal averages but the pace of play and the opponent provides a great opportunity.
