NBA Buzz: Trade Rumors, Cavs, Harden, Heat, Rose, Reddish, Sixers, Millsap

Dennis Schroder‘s breif tenure in Boston has been up-and-down and the Celtics are open to dealing the point guard ahead of the trade deadline.

Schroder is on a $5.9 million expiring deal and John Hollinger of The Athletic suggests that the Cavaliers could be a fit, proposing a deal that sends Kevin Pangos, Ed Davis, and a second-round pick to Boston in exchange for the former Laker.

Cleveland acquired Rajon Rondo earlier in the month and the veteran has only suited up in four games so far for the franchise (9.8 points in 20.8 minutes) per game.

Schroder would be a welcomed addition to the team’s backcourt depth but I can’t help but wonder if the Cavaliers may ultimately look for a bigger deal; one that involves sending out Kevin Love to meet their backcourt needs.

• James Harden looking to change teams? Harden will be a free agent (assuming he turns down his player option) during the offseason and Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report hears that the star hasn’t enjoyed living in Brooklyn and he has some concerns with the franchise, including the team’s handling of Kyrie Irving. The door may be open for Harden to find his way to Philadelphia, though it still seems like a longshot.
  
• Victor Oladipo close to making season debut? Oladipo is participating in practices with the Heat and taking part in “vigorous” workouts as he works toward a return to the court following quad surgery back in May. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald suggests that Oladipo could make his season debut at some point in February.
  
• Derrick Rose Update: Rose, who had surgery on his ankle on December 22, is traveling with the team on its current three-game road trip and there’s a chance he’s able to resume playing at some point over the next month, Marc Berman of The New York Post writes.
  
• What’s up with Cam Reddish? Reddish played just five minutes in his New York debut on Sunday and he didn’t see the court on Monday. Ian Begley of SNY.tv explains that there simply may not be a spot for him in the rotation at the moment but speculates that the Knicks could be working on trades that would allow for Reddish to get more opportunity given the fact that they surrendered a first-round pick for the former Duke star.
  
• Warriors have no plans to add center to roster: Golden State is without Draymond Green (calf/back) and there’s still no timetable for James Wiseman to make his season. Yet, the team has no plans to trade for or sign a big man at this time, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
  
• What teams make sense for Paul Millsap? The Nets and Millsap have agreed to find a trade for the power forward and we examined some possible destinations, including the Utah Jazz.
  
• Joel Embiid credits fatherhood, bubble loss for elevated game: Austin Krell of the Painted Lines details how Embiid took a hard look in the mirror after the Sixers’ disappointing loss in the 2019-20 playoffs. “So just felt like, between Drew — my trainer — and nutritionist, we needed to find a way to make sure I felt great about my body and also about my game,” Embiid said. “I also saw it as an opportunity to kind of actually make use of the talent that I have. And obviously, becoming a father is probably the biggest part of it because I want my son to look at his dad and I want to set the bar high for him.”
