NBA Draft bets: The market's projected top five in the draft

The NBA Draft is here, and beyond Victor Wembanyama going first to the Spurs, there is starting to be some growing certainties according to the betting market.

Odds are available for who will be taken with each of the first 10 selections, and today we'll get acquainted with the board with a quick walk through the odds for the top-five.

First pick favorite: Victor Wembanyama (-20000)

San Antonio Spurs
There's rarely a lock when it comes to betting, and we're not here to recommend anyone put down $20,000 on a bet, but it's all but certain that Victor Wembanyama will be taken first by the San Antonio Spurs.

The 7-foot-2 Wembanyama is one of the most dynamic prospects the NBA has seen since LeBron James, and he will be the first name announced next Thursday night.

Second pick favorite: Brandon Miller (-240)

Charlotte Hornets
Alabama wing Brandon Miller has usurped Scoot Henderson to be the odds-on favorite to be taken second in this year's draft. The Charlotte Hornets currently own the pick and have more of a need for a wing than they do another ball-dominant guard, which explains the market's infatuation with Miller here.

Miller was one of college basketball's best players last season and figures to slot in nicely with a young Charlotte core.

Third pick favorite: Scoot Henderson (-185)

Portland Trail Blazers
If the Blazers stand pat here, they seem extremely likely to take whoever is left between Miller and Henderson. Henderson is an exciting playmaker that has reportedly had strong workouts for the teams near the top of the draft.

Rumors have been swirling that New Orleans wants Henderson, and could package a trade around Zion Williamson to move up from pick No. 14.

Fourth pick favorite: Amen Thompson (-130)

Houston Rockets
The odds start to even out a bit come pick No. 4, currently owned by the Houston Rockets. Guard Amen Thompson is the current favorite, and unless the Rockets feel like an acquisition of James Harden is looming, they have a glaring need for a ball-handling point guard on their roster.

Keep an eye on Harden rumors over the next week, but Thompson's fit in Houston is easy to picture.

Fifth pick favorite: Cam Whitmore (+100)

Detroit Pistons
Detroit has some strong pieces in place in Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, and adding a SF like Whitmore would be a logical move for the roster.

Detroit does also own the tenth pick and could make a move up in the draft for one of Miller, Henderson or Thompson. Whoever ends up drafting at No. 5, Whitmore is the comfortable favorite ahead of Ausar Thompson (+275).
