Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is used to turning heads on the court, but his pre-game outfit against the New York Knicks had NBA fans laughing long before tip-off.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star arrived wearing a huge fur jacket that immediately grabbed attention.

Within minutes, social media had turned the look into one of the most talked-about fashion moments of the night.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s outfit vs. the Knicks goes viral

Legion Hoops shared the clip that showed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander walking into the arena wearing a massive fur jacket that was so large it covered his neck and even part of his face.

The oversized coat quickly became the focus of the broadcast build-up as cameras caught the Thunder guard arriving in the unique look.

Fans were already talking about the outfit before the game even began, which is not unusual for Gilgeous-Alexander, given his reputation for bold tunnel fashion.

The attention did not distract him once the ball went up, though. Oklahoma City edged out the Knicks 103-100 in a tight, low-scoring game.

NBA fans react to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s outfit

While the game itself stayed close, the louder conversation online centred on the outfit and how unusual it looked.

One fan joked, “SGA out here making us question our wardrobe choices.” Another admitted they were struggling to defend the fashion decision, writing, “I love Shai so much, but I can’t defend this one.”

Others leaned fully into the humor surrounding the giant coat, “looks like he’s wearing a mascot suit.”

The size of the jacket was a recurring theme in the reactions as another fan posted, “He’s gotta be joking, it ain’t that cold.” Another summed up the internet’s mood perfectly by adding, “Came out looking like a teddy bear on Valentine’s Day.”

Whether fans loved it or laughed at it, the outfit did exactly what tunnel fashion is supposed to do. It got everyone talking before the game even started.
