NBA Fans React to Doc Rivers Report

With the Milwaukee Bucks starting the NBA season just 2-8 through 10 games, many have speculated that changes could be coming. ESPN's Brian Windhorst recently reported that Milwaukee is already contacting teams about potential trades, but not for All-NBA forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

"The Bucks are indeed starting to canvas the league for a trade, league executives told ESPN," Windhorst wrote. "But no, not that trade. The concept of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo reaching the trade market is ripe for rumors and trade machine computations, but it's not a reality as of now for Antetokounmpo or the Bucks, sources said."

With Antetokounmpo not on the trading block, the other big story in Milwaukee is the job security of head coach Doc Rivers.

In an article for The Athletic, NBA insider Sam Amick revealed that rival executives are beginning to wonder if Rivers may be moved to a front office role in Milwaukee.

"There are rival executives who wonder if Rivers might wind up in the Bucks’ front office down the line," Amick wrote.

Leading the Boston Celtics to an NBA championship in 2008, Rivers has had many disappointing seasons since then. With speculation growing on his future in Milwaukee, NBA fans have been reacting to this Rivers report.

"He’s getting a promotion????" one fan asked.

Rivers served as general manager and head coach for part of his time with the Los Angeles Clippers, although it doesn't sound like he'd be given both roles in Milwaukee.

"After the way he coaches they’re gonna bring him in the front office !?!" another fan asked.

Rivers' time as general manager for the Clippers did not go particularly well, as he was removed from the role in 2017.

"So wait… he gets promoted?" another fan asked. "Man doc must be great in interviews lol"

While many fans are confused by this report, a similar move by the Boston Celtics helped them reshuffle the deck and ultimately win a championship with Brad Stevens in the front office.

"Feels like a Brad Stevens type move is only a matter of time," one fan stated.

Having started so poorly, the Bucks are likely feeling pressure to make any move that could shake things up. If it isn't an Antetokounmpo trade, perhaps removing Rivers from the sideline could be a starting point.
