After a busy NBA Trade Deadline period that saw players like Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and Davion Mitchell depart, the Toronto Raptors decided to reward one of their own. Raptors rookie Jamison Battle got a guaranteed contract with the team.

Battle has shown flashes of someone who can eventually grow into a role player for Toronto, coming off the bench. The former Ohio State product is averaging 5.4 points per game, while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from beyond the arc for the Raptors in 37 appearances during the 2024-25 NBA season. Battle has posted an impressive mark of 63.2 as his true shooting percentage this season.

Shams Charania was the man who originally broke the news about the Raptors converting the two-way contract that their rookie was on to a three-year standard deal.

However, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype stepped in to give the details of the new contract for Battle. It turns out that this is a very team-friendly deal.

"The Toronto Raptors signed Jamison Battle to a three-year, $5.25 million deal, which is fully guaranteed this season, is 50 percent guaranteed for the 2025-26 season, and is non-guaranteed for the 2026-27 season, league sources told @hoopshype. He’s shooting 42.1% on 3-pointers."

The Raptors both rewarded Battle for the upside he has displayed and positioned themselves to have the freedom to upgrade the roster and open up a spot for themselves, should it be necessary down the line. This was a masterful move from the front office in Toronto.

Battle should have the opportunity to receive more minutes down the stretch of the 2024-25 season for the Raptors. With multiple pieces departing via trade, and a laundry list of injuries piling up for Toronto, featuring several key players, the newly-signed sharpshooter should have an opportunity to prove to the Raptors he belongs with the team moving forward.
