NBA issues suspensions for Wizards-Thunder fight

The NBA has issued a set of suspensions for Saturday’s brawl between the Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell and Wizards forward Justin Champagnie both received a one-game suspension from the league for their actions during Saturday’s fight.

Oklahoma City’s Jaylin Williams received a $50,000 fine, while two other players received lesser fines.

Saturday’s fight started when Williams and Champagnie started jawing with each other. Champagnie made it physical, while Mitchell was the Thunder player most involved in trying to fight back (video here).

Both Champagnie and Mitchell are role players for their respective teams, so it should not impact them too much. The Wizards might not even hate this outcome since they have nothing to gain by winning games at this point in their season.

Mitchell is averaging 14.2 points in 26.2 minutes per game for the Thunder this season. Champagnie is averaging 8.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in 19.4 minutes per night.
