The NBA playoffs are currently in full swing, but some are already looking forward to next season. The 2025-26 campaign is set to mark a new era in the league's media landscape, as Amazon and NBC will join ESPN/ABC as rights holders.

Both networks and streaming services have added talent over the last few weeks, including play-by-play, studio analysts and game analysts.

NBC made a big splash on Saturday by adding one of the most popular players as an analyst, as Carmelo Anthony will be joining the network's coverage next season.

“Talking the game, speaking the game, figuring out what’s the “why” on what a lot of people are doing, what a lot of players are doing in the game. The game within the game, I think, needs to be talked about," Anthony said when asked what he's looking forward to most in his analyst role.

The 10-time NBA All-Star revealed the news during an interview at this year's Kentucky Derby with NBC.

“Watching the NBA on NBC growing up shaped my love for the game,” noting that he was a fan of the network's coverage growing up. The rise of the Chicago Bulls dynasty coincided perfectly with NBC's prime as the league's main television broadcast partner.

“Now, I’m thrilled to join the NBC Sports family. I’ve always used my platform to help grow the game, and I’m excited to bring fans a fresh perspective as we usher in a new era of NBA coverage and programming.”

Anthony will join an all-star cast of talent on NBC's NBA coverage. Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller will work for the platform as game analysts, calling games on both NBC and Peacock.

Noah Eagle and Mike Tirico will be play-by-play analysts, following their work on Olympic basketball. Anthony will be making his formal debut as an analyst next year, but he's established himself as a major player in the media space with his "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast.

As the NBA prepares to enter a new era of media coverage, NBC is relying on some of the greatest players of all time to help tell the story of the next generation.
