The Los Angeles Lakers delivered one of the most dramatic wins of their season Saturday night, edging the Denver Nuggets 127–125 in overtime thanks to a clutch shot from Luka Dončić. With the clock nearly expired, Dončić created just enough separation to knock down a difficult fadeaway jumper with 0.5 seconds remaining, sealing the victory and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
The Slovenian star capped off an incredible performance with 30 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds, continuing a red-hot stretch as the Lakers extended their winning streak to five games.
The Lakers needed a bit of late-game brilliance just to force overtime. Trailing in the final seconds of regulation, Austin Reaves pulled off a clever sequence by deliberately missing his second free throw, grabbing the rebound, and quickly flipping in a floater to tie the game with under two seconds left.
Reaves finished with a team-high 32 points, while Marcus Smart added 21 points and several key defensive plays.
Denver still had strong contributions, particularly from Nikola Jokić, who recorded another triple-double with 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 assists. Aaron Gordon also chipped in 27 points. However, the Nuggets struggled to find consistent scoring elsewhere, and a difficult night for Jamal Murray who fouled out early in overtime after a rough shooting performance didn’t help their cause.
The victory pushed Los Angeles into third place in the Western Conference, tightening an already crowded playoff race. After the game, LeBron James had high praise for Dončić, calling him a “generational” talent and hinting that clutch moments like this could become a regular occurrence for the Lakers moving forward.
