The NBA is once again looking at Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant to see if disciplinary action is warranted.
Morant appeared to mimic firing a gun at the opposing bench during Tuesday night’s game between the Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors at FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn.
Morant extended his arms as if he were pointing a shotgun at the Warriors. Buddy Hield made the same gesture back, while Draymond Green also saw it and mimicked the gesture to complain to the officials. You can see the video here.
As expected, the NBA is reportedly taking a closer look at Morant’s gesture.

Had another player made the gesture, it might have gone overlooked. That was never going to be the case with Morant because of his history.
Morant has been accused of bringing out a gun to threaten a boy who was playing basketball at his house. He was suspended for eight games in March 2023 after being shown with a gun on social media. Then, in June 2023, the star point guard was suspended for 25 games after flashing a gun in another social media video.
Yet, even after all that, Morant still decided to do a different gun-themed celebration after he threw down an alley-oop in December 2023.
The NBA knows that anything Morant does will lead to more scrutiny than the average player. It would not be a surprise if he faces some sort of punishment from the league.
