The NBA made a big Giannis Antetokounmpo announcement on Monday, as the Milwaukee Bucks superstar was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 24 of the 2024-25 season.
Antetokounmpo averaged 36.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 13.7 assists in three games against the Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat last week.
The Bucks went 4-0 last week. They beat the New Orleans Pelicans without Antetokounmpo, who missed the Pelicans game with a shoulder injury.
Antetokounmpo has appeared in 64 games for the Bucks this season. He's averaging 30.5 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists while shooting 60.2% from the field, 21.1% from beyond the arc and 61.8% from the free-throw line.
A nine-time All-Star, Antetokounmpo is fourth in the NBA in points, second in points per game, eighth in rebounds, sixth in rebounds per game and third in player efficiency rating.
The Bucks are 44-34 on the season. They are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
If the regular season ended today, Milwaukee would face the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Indiana beat Milwaukee in the first round of the 2024 playoffs in six games.
A future Hall of Famer, Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to the 2021 championship against the Suns. It will be fascinating to see how far Milwaukee goes in this year's postseason.
