The Denver Nuggets have a massive game on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers in their first-round series.
Saturday’s game is a win-or-go-home Game 7 for both sides after the Clippers were able to extend the series with a victory on Thursday.
Thursday’s game was a disappointing one for the Nuggets despite their solid start as they were unable to complete a comeback in the fourth quarter.
Now, the series shifts back to Denver for Game 7 on Saturday with the winner advancing to the second round to face the Oklahoma City Thunder while the loser will being their offseason earlier than expected.
While the Nuggets’ series is not over yet, the NBA made a major announcement regarding the playoff schedule for the second-round series against the Thunder which involves the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets series.
If the Rockets are able to force a Game 7 with a victory on Friday night, then the Nuggets’ potential second-round series against the Thunder would begin on Monday, May 5.

May 5, 7, 9, 11 if HOU/GSW ends in 7 games
May 6, 8, 10, 12 if HOU/GSW ends in 6 games
On the other hand, if the Warriors close out the Rockets in Game 6 on Friday, then the potential series between the Nuggets and Thunder will begin on Tuesday, May 6.
Of course, the Nuggets first have to advance past the Clippers in Game 7 on Saturday and no matter the outcome, the winner will be on the wrong side of the rest advantage after the Thunder have had a ton of time off due to sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies.
This could end up being a major problem for the Nuggets if they end up advancing as they have seen multiple key players struggle with injuries during the first round.
Both Russell Westbrook and Michael Porter Jr. are dealing with lingering injuries they suffer during their first-round series while Aaron Gordon has dealt with a lingering calf injury for much of the season.
Because of this, the Nuggets could be in trouble during the second round against the Thunder but they first have to make it past the Clippers on Saturday in Game 7.
