The Celtics needed an easy win on Friday night as they go through their pre-playoff tuneups following an ugly 96-76 loss to the Magic on Wednesday in which all of Boston's starters rested. With the Charlotte Hornets on the docket, the team got just that and put forth a nearly sweat-free 130-94 victory at TD Garden.
The bench brigade led the way for the Celtics, who were still without Jaylen Brown as he nurses a knee injury. Payton Pritchard had 22 points and Sam Hauser added 20 as the team drubbed Charlotte.
Among the highlights, too, were three 3-point makes for star forward Jayson Tatum, and four for Pritchard. That brought Tatum to 250 made shots from beyond the arc this season, and Pritchard to 251. Along with Derrick White, who has 265 made 3s this year, the league announced that the performances earned a spot in league history.

"Tonight, Derrick White (265), Payton Pritchard (251), & Jayson Tatum (250) became the first trio of teammates in NBA HISTORY to hit 250+ 3PM in the same season!" the league wrote from its Twitter/X account.
The numbers marked a career high for all three players. White's previous high had been 196 made 3s, which he accomplished last year. For Pritchard, it was 147, which he achieved last season, too.
Tatum is the only one of the three to have crossed the 200 plateau for made 3s. This is his fourth straight year of making 200-plus 3s, and his previous high had been 240, which he made two years ago.
