Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic went off in Monday’s 129-118 win over the Chicago Bulls. The six-time All-Star erupted for 46 points on 15-of-25 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds, 12 assists and eight triples at a 57.1% clip in 38 minutes of action. It was another awe-inspiring performance for Doncic, who has now led L.A. to its fourth win in its last five games.
Doncic rewrote the franchise history books yet again on Monday. The 26-year-old’s latest offensive explosion prompted an announcement from the NBA after Doncic etched his name in the Lakers' history books alongside the late, great Kobe Bryant.
Doncic is in his first full season with the Lakers following his mid-season blockbuster trade last year. Entering Monday’s contest, the 6-foot-8 guard had produced averages of 33.4 points on 46.7% shooting, 7.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.6 steals. Doncic has also knocked down 3.4 triples per game on a 33.4% clip.
Doncic’s all-around performance on Monday night was a historic one. The NBA took to social media after the game to announce the Lakers superstar’s latest career milestone.
“An absolute masterclass from Luka! He joins Kobe Bryant as the only players in franchise history to record 45+ PTS, 10+ AST and 5+ 3PM in a single game,” the league posted on X.

Bryant is one of the greatest players in franchise history. For Doncic to be mentioned in the same breath is an absolute honor — especially so early on in his Lakers tenure.
Thanks in large part to Doncic’s historic performance, the Lakers improved to 28-17 after Monday’s win. As of writing, they are fifth in the Western Conference.
Doncic and Co. are back in action on Wednesday. They will aim to make it three wins in a row against the Cleveland Cavaliers. That will be L.A.’s fifth contest in its current eight-game road trip.
