The San Antonio Spurs (62-20) had a remarkable turnaround this season and finished the year with the second best record in the NBA. Victor Wembanyama led the way and helped the team reach the playoffs for the first time since 2019, ending a six-year drought.

Wembanyama had the best campaign of his career so far, finishing the regular season with 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 51.2% from the field. He led the league in total blocks (197) and average blocks (3.1), and many around the league have called him the runaway favorite to win the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Wembanyama, alongside Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Denver NuggetsNikola Jokic, is also among the favorites to win the MVP award this season after reaching the 65-game mark required for award eligibility on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.

As Wembanyama and the Spurs await their first-round playoff opponent, the winner of the Phoenix Suns versus Portland Trail Blazers play-in game, the NBA announced its best-selling jerseys on Monday.

Wembanyama ranked fourth on the list, edging out other star players like Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and Houston RocketsKevin Durant.

The 22-year-old from France has risen quickly to superstardom. Drafted first overall in 2023, he won Rookie of the Year the following year and has quickly developed into one of the NBA’s most exciting and popular players in just his third season.

Wembanyama will again be central to the Spurs’ pursuit of their first NBA title since 2014.
