NBA news: Apart from being a tenured head coach in the league, Stan Van Gundy is also known for providing some quality commentary during games as a broadcaster for NBA on TNT. The 64-year-old adds a colorful twist to games whenever he’s on the broadcast not only with his deep knowledge of the game but also through the comedic punches he delivers from time to time.
Little did we know that this man has been dealing with one of the darkest tragedies a man can ever experience.
In a recent appearance on the Dan LeBatard Show, Van Gundy revealed the heart-rendering details of how his wife, Kim, passed away in August last year. Apparently, Kim died of suicide:
“She took her own life, Dan… I’ll never… I don’t care how long it goes, I can’t imagine that I’ll ever get over that… I just don’t think I’ll ever get over it,” he said. “… My responsibility was to take care of her and to give her a great life, and I failed in that… what’s keeping me going is mainly my kids..”

That’s absolutely devastating to hear. As a married man myself, I just can’t fathom what Van Gundy must be going through right now. As he said, the only thing that keeps him going is four children with his late wife.
Condolences and prayers for Kim, Coach Stan, and the rest of the family.
