Bam Adebayo is considered day-to-day. He underwent an MRI Thursday and was diagnosed with a left big toe sprain, per Anthony Chiang and Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Adebayo exited Wednesday’s loss in Denver and will not play Friday against the Hornets. But it does not appear the All-Star center will miss extended time.
Miami recalled two-way center Vlad Goldin from a G League assignment. First-round pick Kasparas Jakucionis will also be available. It could be the NBA debut for the former Illinois guard, who missed the first eight games with a groin strain.
The Heat also announced Erik Spoelstra will coach Friday — one day after the reported fire damaged his South Miami-Dade property.
Cam Thomas re-injured his left hamstring in the first quarter Wednesday against the Pacers, as relayed by Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
It’s the same hamstring that limited Thomas to 25 games last season and the same hamstring he injured three separate times in 2024-25.
Thomas left under his own power but did not return, and the Nets called it “tightness.” He will be reevaluated Thursday.
Coach Jordi Fernandez said Thomas was upbeat postgame and added that “his health is the No. 1 priority.”
Thomas signed his $6 million qualifying offer last summer and is set for unrestricted free agency in 2026.
Coach Jason Kidd made a move Wednesday, bringing Klay Thompson off the bench. Thompson said he doesn’t mind and believes he will “do great things.”
Thompson finished with 11 points in 21 minutes in a close loss to New Orleans. He has struggled early and Kidd is searching for scoring.
“I’m feeling like those first five games were hard for me to get my wind and get my legs under me,” Thompson said, via Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News. “Now I’m finally feeling like myself again. And you just know as a shooter, when that ball is just effortlessly flicking off your wrist. You know big things are coming.”
No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg scored 20 with nine rebounds and three steals, but missed a shot late that would have tied it. The Mavericks sit at 2-6 despite playing a bulk of those games at home.
“It’s the most I’ve lost since, I think, ever,” Flagg, 18, told reporters after the game.
