NBA Notes: Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins, NBA in UK

New Rockets forward Kevin Durant is already a four-time Olympic gold medalist, the only men’s player to ever do it. So what about one more run with Team USA in Los Angeles in 2028?

“Yeah, if I’m still me,” Durant said, via Law Murray of The Athletic. “I don’t want the gift of the veteran, like, ‘come sit on the end of the bench and get your fifth.’”

Durant also admitted he’s thought about life after basketball, including the possibility of coaching.

“Some days I would, some days I wouldn’t,” he said. “It’s tough dealing with personalities. … But we’ll see.”

Cousins re-signs: Former NBA big man DeMarcus Cousins is headed back to Mongolia. Cousins announced on Facebook that he’s re-signed with the Selenge Bodons, the club he joined last season.

“Can’t wait to get back to Mongolia and finish what we started and try to bring home a championship!” Cousins wrote.

The four-time All-Star, now 35, last played in the NBA with Denver in 2022. Since then, he’s been on a world tour of sorts, suiting up for teams in Taiwan, Puerto Rico and now Mongolia.

NBA in UK: Basketball continues to grow across the pond. The NBA and UK government are each investing £5 million to boost participation and infrastructure, Basketball England announced.

UK prime minister Keir Starmer even weighed in, saying, “Basketball is booming in Britain — and this investment will help take it to the next level.”

The NBA already has big plans overseas: regular-season games in London in 2026 and Manchester in 2027. Plus, league officials are exploring the idea of a European league, which could launch as early as 2027.
