Kevin Durant is the Rockets’ best player, but not their top priority, according Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
Speaking on NBA Today, MacMahon said there’s no urgency to complete a multiyear extension with Durant, noting the team is focused on other moves — including a new deal for forward Tari Eason.
“That’s not an insult to him, their priority is making sure they have as long of a runway as possible while trying to cash in on this window that they created by getting Kevin Durant,” MacMahon said.
Suns ranked just outside playoff picture
Plenty has to go right for the Suns to make the postseason, writes Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports, who has them slotted 11th in his Western Conference power rankings.
Phoenix rebuilt its depth after trading Durant and waiving Bradley Beal, adding Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and Mark Williams. Bourguet believes the mix could work if the new pieces mesh quickly — but calls them a fringe playoff contender at best.
Pistons offcially sign Green
The Pistons have officially signed veteran swingman Javonte Green to a one-year deal. Green, 32, played for the Pelicans and Cavaliers last season, averaging 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 68 games.
Known for his defense and versatility, he should have a clear path to a roster spot with Detroit, which currently has 13 players under standard contracts.
