Warriors

Jonathan Kuminga says he’s finally at peace.

After a long restricted free agency stretch that ended with a two-year, $46.8 million deal, the 23-year-old forward told Andscape’s Marc J. Spears he’s not stressing about the future, even if trade rumors continue to swirl.

“I don’t think about things like that. I just try to get better,” Kuminga said. “You never know with this life. It’s the NBA. One day you’re here, one day you’re somewhere else.”

Kuminga admitted he’s been frustrated by inconsistent minutes under Steve Kerr but said he won’t press the issue. Kerr, meanwhile, told Spears that the young forward can still play “an important role on a very good team,” even if it’s been “an interesting fit.”

“He just turned 23,” Kerr said. “He has plenty of basketball ahead. One day, hopefully, he’ll look back on this as a valuable time in his career.”

Heat

Precious Achiuwa is back where it all started, and he says it feels right.

After sitting unsigned most of the summer, the forward/center returned to Miami on a non-guaranteed training camp deal. He says he never stopped feeling connected to the franchise that drafted him.

“I think there’s some unfinished business,” Achiuwa said, via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “The culture of the Miami Heat fits the way I play. A lot of tenacity, a lot of intensity. So I feel right at home here.”

Raptors

Toronto may have found something in Collin Murray-Boyles.

The No. 9 overall pick has stood out early, showing a mix of defense, court vision and confidence from deep, according to Eric Koreen of The Athletic. Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said the team has tweaked Murray-Boyles’ shooting form, and the rookie is responding well.

“He’s put a lot of work in,” Rajakovic said. “He looks like a player that’s looking for those shots and not shying away.”

The only concern? A right elbow contusion suffered Friday against Boston. X-rays came back negative, but per Sportsnet’s Michael Grange, the 20-year-old was in “visible pain” and will likely undergo an MRI.
