Wizards

The Wizards have officially waived big man Richaun Holmes, as relayed by HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. Holmes, 30, was owed $13.28 million for the 2025-26 season, though only $250,000 of that was guaranteed — a financial structure that made him an obvious candidate to be cut or dealt.

Holmes appeared in 42 games last season, averaging 7.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per contest. He will become an unrestricted free agent once he clears waivers.

Washington is leaning younger in the frontcourt and for now, is moving forward with a big man rotation that includes former No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr, Tristan Vukcevic, and Marvin Bagley III.

Knicks

The Knicks’ decision to part ways with Tom Thibodeau and bring in Mike Brown may have raised more eyebrows behind the scenes than in public. According to the New York Post’s Stefan Bondy, the move has opened up “new degrees of accountability” for team president Leon Rose and his front office.

Thibodeau had just led the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals and remained popular among a chunk of the fanbase. But the front office opted for a new voice in Brown, betting that a different approach could elevate an already promising roster.

If it works, the Knicks may look shrewd. If it doesn’t, the fallout may shift attention from the bench to the suite.

Nets

Day’Ron Sharpe is staying with the Nets, and while his two-year deal isn’t yet official, that’s only a formality as Brooklyn finalizes some cap maneuvering, per the New York Post’s Brian Lewis.

Sharpe, 23, has spent his entire career in Brooklyn after being selected 29th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft. He averaged 6.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in just under 14 minutes per game last season.

“I just feel that was the best option for me, and that’s where Brooklyn was at,” Sharpe said. “I just decided what I decided.”
