NBA Posts Historic Announcement About LeBron James

LeBron James didn't have the best game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, but the Los Angeles Lakers star still made history.

James finished the contest with 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting, along with five rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one block. He committed eight turnovers, but the Lakers were fortunately able to edge the Clippers 108-102 for their sixth straight victory.

While James came up just one point short of becoming the first NBA player ever to reach 50,000 points, the win allowed him to join the 1,000-win club.

As the NBA revealed, Sunday's victory marked James' 1000th regular season win in his career, joining legends Tim Duncan, Robert Parish and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players to reach the milestone mark.

The league's social media team also made sure to congratulate the 40-year-old James for the achievement, saying, "Congrats to @KingJames of the @Lakers on 1,000 career TOTAL WINS!"

The Lakers have 23 games left on the season, so it's possible for LeBron James to climb further up the NBA all-time wins list.

James needs just two more wins to surpass Duncan (1,001 wins) and 15 to break Parish's second-best record (1,014). Considering that the Purple and Gold are currently on a roll, it's not hard to see the Lakers forward climbing all the way to No. 2 on the list.

As for Abdul-Jabbar's record of 1,074 wins, though, James will need to play next season if he wants a shot at breaking it.
