#9 Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota grinds out wins despite missing key pieces. Sitting at a +3.3 NetRtg, they’ve leaned on defense (112.2, 8th) to stay competitive. However, the offense has dipped rather quickly post-All-Star break, falling to near bottom-10 levels. Their resilience stands out, but offensive inconsistency could hurt their playoff positioning down the stretch.

#8 Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavs are stacking wins, taking five of their last six, but again, it hasn’t been all pretty defensively. They’re winning with firepower, not with stops, which is risky in the long term. Still, when that offense clicks, few teams can keep up.

Their DefRtg has climbed into the top 10 over that span, complementing a steady 117.2 OffRtg. The +1.5 NetRtg doesn’t pop, but recent form does. They’re beating weaker teams consistently, though questions remain against elite competition.

#5 New York Knicks

New York’s offense remains elite at 118.5 (3rd), but its defense has slipped recently, allowing over 125 per 100 possessions in the last few games. Even then, their +6.3 NetRtg keeps them firmly in the top five. Depth continues to be a strength, especially with key bench contributors returning at the right time.

#4 Detroit Pistons

They’ve also dominated second quarters, flipping games early. This team is proving it’s more than just star power. Structure, depth, and elite defensive execution are equally important, if not more.

Boston climbs to No. 3 in the NBA Power Rankings after winning seven of their last eight. Their 119.4 OffRtg (2nd) and +7.9 NetRtg show a well-rounded contender. Even without Jaylen Brown, they’ve handled quality teams. Rebounding has sincerely become a strength, and their ability to generate second-chance points is making a real difference.

#2 San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are on an eight-game heater, backed by elite two-way numbers – 118.4 OffRtg (4th) and 110.1 DefRtg (3rd). Their +8.3 NetRtg goes to show dominance on both ends. Victor Wembanyama anchors the defense, and the team’s ability to limit paint scoring and free throws separates them from the pack.

#1 Oklahoma City Thunder

OKC is the king of kings in the NBA Power Rankings with a league-best +11.0 NetRtg. Their defense leads the league (106.3), and the offense (117.3), efficient. Even after their 12-game streak ended, they’ve maintained control of the West. With Jalen Williams back, their depth and balance make them the most complete team right now.
